Spotlight on Charles Allie and 200 indoor WR in France

They outta call it MastersTube, for all the masters track videos you can find on YouTube. The latest is this clip of Charles Allie becoming the oldest man to run the indoor 200 under 25 seconds. Yesterday in Boston, Charles won the M60 60 in 7.91 seconds, less than 0.2 off the American record. So look for another quick time in today’s 200 final at nationals. Almost exactly 10 years ago, Charles won the M50 200 at nationals in 24.06. Losing less than a second after 10 years? Incredible. Thanks to Rick Riddle for the YouTube link!

Charlie looks great no slowing down. However I see a striking resemblance in running style to the guy who played Eric Liddle in chariots of fire.

Charlie, Great run in Clermont, you are one of the great ones, that sets the standards for us to follow. Glad you are my teammate. Keep moving on…..

Ken, I was wondering if you could put me in touch with Charles Allie. I competed in the 2005 NGSA games in Pittsburgh and finished second (to my great surprise) in the 400M – albeit a distant 5 seconds behind him. While I was thrilled to take the Silver, it has been my great disappointment that the official photographer for NGSA did not have anyone taking pictures that day. I know someone took shots of the medals ceremony and even though it’s been over 5 years would love to have a photo/remembrance of the event. I’m hoping that Charles might have some shots (probably of the medals ceremony as I doubt I’d show up in the same frame of the race itself). Any contact info you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Stuart
