My snarky remarks on the 2012 Jyväskylä worlds website haven’t gone unnoticed in Finland. Professor Jouko Ylä-Liedenpohja writes: “Your web-page recently wondered whether the logo of the indoor Worlds describes the sunset or the Northern Lights. Aurora Borealis was excellent last night in Lapland.” Jouko also sends a link to a gorgeous sky video of green magic. See this video.

Incredible video!!!
I remember seeing the Aurora B. many times as a child and it was mesmerizing. A few years ago I had the good fortune to see a remarkable display from 34,000 feet while flying over Montana and North Dakota. Green is not uncommon from what I can recollect.

That Northern lights video was actually from the Ylläs-Äkäslompolo ski area in Finnish Lapland some 600 km to the north of Jyväskylä. No matter. Probabably worth a stay after WMA Jyväskylä for you rich American tourists.

I had a rare opportunity to see the Aurora Borealis while in Norway as a 15 year old teen. Those dancing green lights were awesome.
