Entry lists for Charlotte nationals posted on USATF site
Now we’re cooking. USATF has posted rosters of all entrants at the Charlotte masters nationals, which starts a week from tomorrow. (Ohmygod! I better get into shape!) It’s not the Status of Entries site (which takes time to navigate), but the more definitive Competitor List page. The men’s entrants are listed separately from the women’s entrants. But best of all — ages and hometowns are given, which is helpful in figuring out potential relay teams (since you have to be from at least the same USATF region). Now the main mystery is the weather. Will it be hot or superhot? You can check Charlotte weather as well.

Are the entries grouped in heats? It kind of looks that way and it would be a shame if Brian Pope (M40) and a fast 30 year old are in a separate heat from Pete Magill and John Tuttle (M45). It seems like there are a lot of men entered, so separate heats make sense, but times would be faster if they were grouped by speed.
Apparently, whoever did the timetable for Charlotte is not a miler. The 1500s start at 7am and 7:35 on Sunday for women and men respectively ??
YIKES !! I have never raced THAT early before !!
Scanning Sunday’s entire schedule I see the relays start at 1pm. Is there a rush to get out of the facility ? I hope they decide to push that Sunday racing timetable back 2 hours.
I will be in the first group of the women 1500 meter runners going off at 7 am. The positive thing is that it is likely to be cool, but the negative is that I will have to get up about 4 am to get ready. Not being a morning person, I need atleast 3 hours tto get awake, eat something, digest it, warm up, stretch, and generally get my eyes open. I have never had to run so early for a 1500m or mile race. I have had to do this for x-c or the 5k – in Puerto Rico for the x-c which was located miles outside of the city, the busses left a 4 am for a 6 am start.
It will be unique indeed – maybe all of us running at 7 am can just party all night before and still be up and ready to go at 7 am. And this will really be difficult for the west coast folks whose body clocks are set back 3 hours –
it should be “different” sleep walking in a 1500m race!
Hot or superhot? Don’t you worry. Worry about your sunglasses fogging up! To the middle distance runners: Be thankful for the starting time. Dr. Gordon Edwards knows what he is doing.
can anyone explain why age groups wuth less than 12 entries have prelims for the 800?
usually they will not hold 800 prelims if there are 12 or less. they will probably “pass through” everyone. this happened to me in ’02 in Maine in BOTH the 800 and 1500. we ran the 800 final in California staggers back then.
