German rocks M65 world record in indoor weight toss

Hans Röcken, an M65 weightman in Germany, has shattered that age group’s world indoor record in the weight throw, spinning the 20-pound implement out 19.12 meters (62-8 3/4), reports a Dec. 23 posting on Annette’s Seite that cites this original report. That’s a monster 7 feet farther than the listed WR of 16.79 (55-1) by American Dick Hotchkiss at the Idaho masters nationals in March 2005. Hans, who won his first two world masters titles as an M40 in 1981, apparently had help from former world champion Karsten Kobs

Here’s a very rough translation of the report:
Weight throw: Hans’s skirts with M65-Hallenweltrekord Hans’s skirts with 19,12m a new Weltbestmarke in the weight throw set up. With a resounding match of the LG Ems goods village in the Leichtathletikhalle the sport school of the German Federal Armed Forces improved the Mastersathlet of the LG Plettenberg/Herscheid on Thursday in the age group M 65 the old record width of 16.79 meters, to 12. March 2005 in Nampa/Idaho was set up by thickly Hotchkiss (the USA), over no less than 2.33 meters.
With the examination of the record lists Hans’s skirts had now stated that with its form shining at present the Hotchkiss record could not withstand its attack. The question was only: Where is a suitable resounds, in order to accomplish one thrower day?
By its friendship to the family Kobs experienced skirts that those offers a LA-resounding of the sport school in goods village such possibilities. Ex world champion Karsten Kobs trains hammer throwing there more frequently.
By director of government Uwe Moggert, responsibly for the training with the sport school, got Hans’s skirts the last possible date for a resounding use before the Weihnachtsferien. Now an organizer for the match had to be found. Here it could manufacture the contact to the LG Ems goods village. Hans’s skirts personally Colonel Lerch thanked you for the mad support by the sport school Moggert and the commander.
Both had not had themselves taken it to express their congratulations to the first world record, which was obtained in the sport school. (Source: Lüdenscheider message, 23.12.06)
Me again:
Dick Hotchkiss is almost better known in masters track as an administrator. He was a member of the Games Committee at Charlotte, for example. He’s been the throws coordinator for USATF Masters for years, and has coached at California State University Chico.

Congratulations to Hans on his wonderful throw. Now all we have to do is get Ed Burke to throw indoors to collect this record. We all know he has thrown the 20lb. weight over 20 meters many times outdoors. It’s tough being a Californian.
