Masters women shut out of 100th Millrose Games?
The Millrose Games — where officials wear tuxedoes and fans toast indoor track — celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, and masters will again be in the mix. (But men only, perhaps.) Masters club leader Jim Relly has sent out this word: “Sorry for the late notice to inform you that there is a Masters race at the 100th Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden on February 2, 2007. The decision was finally made that there will be a 4x400m race. . . . Teams who want to participate must be from a USATF 2007 registered club. No all-star teams.”
Jim continues:
“The relay participants must be from that club and USATF registered. The top 6 fastest clubs will qualify by submitting a verified time from the last 12 months. The times will be checked and we will not accept combined individual times instead of a team time.
“Qualifying teams need:
1. Team Name and team USATF 2007#
2. 4 relay participants plus 2 alternates names plus Individual USATF 2007#s
3. Team coach or captain’s Name, phone #, and address
4. Qualifying Time and location (if results are not online then we need contact info of meet coordinator)
“Please note that meet management did not specify when the last day that a qualifying time needs to be sent in by. We will keep you informed when that date is determined.
“I will compile the times and submit them to Mary Rosado, who will make the final decision. Mary manages the Masters Men and Women Millrose 4×400 for the Millrose Games. Thank you, good luck and let me know if you have a relay team.

However, the meet schedule shows only a masters men’s 4×4 — not one for masters women.
A year ago, the deadline was Jan. 9, so you’d best get crackin’ if you cotton to enter.
