Gail Devers enters Millrose Games 60m hurdles
USATF and the Millrose Games have announced that Gail Devers will compete in the Millrose 60-meter hurdles. But the news release failed to mention a salient fact — Gail (a new momma) is now 40 years old! She’ll be a slam dunk to beat the listed W40 American and world records in the event: 8.71 seconds WR and 9.08 American. Jon Hendershott of Track & Field News realized the momentous nature of the W40 milestone, however, reporting on her return from outdoor season maternity leave. The meet is Feb. 2. Go Gail!

The WR of 8.71 is from Monica Pellegrinelli from Switzerland (born 14. May 1965). But it was made in Linz over the hurdles 30″ and 12 m to the first, 8m between and 16 m to the finish. It seems to be less difficult, but for Monica it was more difficult, because she runs allways with the younger Womans, and there over the “normal” hurdles of 33″ with 13m to the first, 8.5m between and 13 m to the finish. And she run in Magglingen, Switzerland, on 26. February 2006 the time of 8.45, whitch is (for her) far faster then 8.71!
So, I think, that Gail Deevers must run (for her, Gail) a little bit faster. And Gail also will run over the “normal” hurdles.
