Geezerjock posts my Riccione worlds roundup story
A day after the final events of Riccione worlds, I sat down at my home computer for four hours and cobbled together this highlight story on assignment for Geezerjock magazine. I tried to mention stuff not covered in my blog, so you might want to check it out. I led with The Legend’s 10 gold medals, beginning the story: “Norway and Poland each won 10 medals at the 17th World Masters Track and Field Championships. So did Phil Raschker.” Cliche but cute, no? In perusing the Geezerjock site, I also came across some masters track news on another legend.
In his blog, editor Sean Callahan reports:
I spoke with Milt Silverstein a few days ago. We on the GeezerJock editorial team have known Milt, who is one of the great sprinters and long jumpers in Masters track and field, since he was a young man of 78 or so. He’s now 88. Due to health issues in his family, Milt hasn’t trained or competed much lately. He vowed, however, that he planned to train throughout 2008, because he was excited about turning 90 and being a young man again. Aren’t Masters sports great?
Great? U bet!
See you in Lahti, Milt. We’ve missed you!
