Trippy championship meet set for European masters in August 2012
The Eurovets are doing something a little crazy next year at their 18th European Veterans Athletics Championships — holding the meet in three countries at the same time. Actually, it’s not as bad as it sounds. The countries are Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic, and the cities of Bogatynia (Poland), Hrádek (Czech Republic) and Zittau (Germany) aren’t far apart. See the meet website. The event is 11 months away, but already a day-by-day schedule is out. See the entry book. Of the three-country setup, the meet organizers say: “This is a special challenge, and at the same time a wonderful opportunity to show how Europe is growing together.” As far as I can tell, it’s Euro athletes only.

Yes, This is for Euro nationals only. All entries will be via national associations affiliated to EVAA. Don’t confuse it with European Masters Games which are taking place right now.
Worth adding that I’m not sure what’s “trippy” about this. Although the three stadia are in different countries, they are all within 15 kilometers of each other. Not sure even Sacramento managed that!
Trippy is a lame pun, Tom, with sly reference to 1960s psychedelia. I never dropped acid but had friends who did. I got high via the Flop.
This is barmy idea -worst is The world Masters indoors held in jyvaskyla 2012.
with over 6 months to go there is only 2 hotels left with 2 or 3 rooms left.
where is everybody going to stay !
Is Jyvaskyla a 4 lane track?
yes a 4 lane track for the 200m
How did this thread get to the World indoors from the Euro outdoors? If that’s true about Finland accommodation, should not somone be raising it formally. As I understand it, all the Jyvaskula hotels are under the same managememt. Presumably all have been reserved by organised packages. Do not believe all have been booked.
But nothing to do with “trippy” Zittau next August! Just don’t inhale, Ken!
If one looks at Hotel.com – indeed only a very few rooms left – because the rest have been reserved by the WMA travel agency – and one needs to make reservations through them. You cannot make an end run around them so it seems. Breath in, Breath out – relax – if you are all stressed about getting a hotel room for the WMA Indoor meet – go to the LOC and make it now through the official housing folks. Yes you are likely to pay a high rate – but Finland is expensive – was in 2009 for the Outdoor, going to be in 2012 for the Indoor.
and indeed what does this have to do with Trippy Euro Outdoor?
That one sounds very exciting – wish I could go – but only for EVAC folks. It is not as if one has to hop on a plane to go from one venue to another – and in fact the different venues are pretty close to each other – just in contiguous countries. Probably easier to go from one to another than in SAC if you had to take public transportation. And certainly much closer than the widely spread out venues in Ricione with buses that ran – sometimes – if you were lucky.
it was my fault totally for talking about the outdoors.
Sorryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy folks
Holding the 2012 18th European Veterans Athletics Championships simultaneously at three adjoining EU towns of three different EU countries is a brilliant demonstration of EU political unity.
