Here’s your American record W60 team from the Millrose Games

Julie Hayden graciously reports on her team’s WR 4X4 relay team at Millrose Games over the weekend: “Just back home from Millrose. To answer some of your questions regarding the 4×4’s yesterday. (Splits are approximate and what I was given by timing crew.) Athena W40A Jane Brooker (67.3),Terri Rath (67.5), Maryline Roux (66.8) and Charmaine Roberts (61.4) did finish second (4:23.27) to Central Park A (4:18.76). Jane is returning from Achilles surgery, and it was exciting to have her back. Athena W50 Debra Hoffman (Deutsch) (63), Lorraine Jasper (67), Julie Hayden (67), Cheryl Bellaire (69) 4:27.73. With Kathleen Shook unavailable, Debra Hoffman agreed to fly in from CA and ran superbly. The record attempt was planned and we were aware of what we needed to do to break it.â€

From left are Deborah Barchat, Judith Tripp, Mary Rosado and Sylvie Kimche.

Julie continues:

Athena W40B Kathy Haubrich (70), Wendi Glassman (75), Marisa Sutera Strange (70) and Julie Hankin (73) 4:49.35
I have no idea why our W40 A & B results were mixed. To my knowledge, our registration and declaration process were correctly completed.

General Information

Devon Martin did a wonderful job of coordinating the open and masters club events. Information was well presented and in a very timely fashion. Devon was extremely helpful both prior to the event on meet day. We are grateful to her, especially helping provide the paperwork for the record.

Mary Rosado also assisted greatly with getting the signatures of the starter and chief referee, as she was also looking for them for Central Park’s W60+ team. We left our record paperwork with Chief of Officials Adam Sandford to get the final signatures from the Chief Photo Finish Judge, since we were told that they would not be able to help us until the close of the meet. Mary and I were very resolute in collecting the signatures and making Adam agree to getting the CPFJ signature. We even took his phone #!

We entered two of the elite open club relay events in addition to the masters 4×4.

This was the first event of the evening. Our logic was to give Julie Hankin & Marisa the opportunity to run a longer event, as well as help out with the W40B 4×4. We were outclassed by the young field, and Alisa Harvey running a swift 400M for Riadha.

4x200M – Debbie Hoffman, (28:5) Terri Rath, (29.9) Maryline Roux, (28.8) Jane Brooker, (31.5) 1:58.85

Jane Brooker bravely substitute for Charmaine Roberts on the anchor leg, after Charmaine decided to rest a tight hamstring with Indoor Nationals & Indoor Worlds on the horizon. and

Closing comments

Fantastic meet, with some amazing performances. Watch it when the elites are televised! Track is certainly faster, and better than Madison Square Gardens. Obviously, not as large a venue as MSG, but a great atmosphere.
