Eurovets update records, even WRs, ahead of indoor worlds

Giuseppe

Check out the latest European indoor records list. Sweden’s Ivar Söderlind, statistician of EVAA, writes: “In 2012 until March 25, I have registered 21 European Indoor Records and 19 of these records are brought in 2012. Fifteen of the records are World Records or better than the official World Records. In 2011, I noted 58 European indoor records and 37 of these records also were World Records.” One of the more notable records was in the M95 60-meter dash, where Italy’s Giuseppe Ottaviani ran 14.28. The American record is 15.21 by San Diego’s Leland McPhie.

Ivar is fast as always. A few pending records are already in the list without ‘p’ or so! Better than never reaching ‘pending’ status.

There are no pending world records in that list.

There are. Mine for example, not yet approved as national record.

EVAA just needs to put “Pending WR” after every European record that WMA has not yet publicly listed as a WMA ratified World Record. Then at least the WMA and EVAA record listings would not differ. Uh, uh, hopefully……

I don’t like the idea of records, which may be pending world records, not being first ratified as national records by the national governing body. I know how that may arise but there could still be uncertainties about athlete data. Ratification by the national governing body as a national record should be a prerequisite for a European or World Record.

Maybe Ivar is fast in recognizing european records. But when it comes to swedish records, for which he is reponsible, he is not that fast. I have been submitting details of a record for more than a year, with no response.
