Kamloops announces deadline extension for regular entry

Judy Armstrong, a top organizer of Kamloops indoor world masters meet in March, has sent an announcement saying the “early bird” entry deadline has been pushed back to January 23. That’s two weeks later than the original date. Not sure how this plays out for Americans, who were given a regular entry deadline of  January 4 and were told: “From January 5 to February 1, a late fee of $25 per event applies. No entries will be accepted after February 1, 2010.” In any case, the news release puts the best possible spin on the turnout, saying 49 countries are entered. But missing from the list are Britain and Italy (UK is taking its time; not sure about the Italians).

Love how the banner for the Indoor worlds has a javelin and discus thrower on it. They put 4 photos on there and 2 of them are outdoor only events. Well done Kamloops.

Actually your mistaken, there are several winter outdoor events at the World Indoor Championships. Hammer, discus, and javelin as well as 8k cross country, 10k road race walk and half marathon.

Regardless, those are not indoor events and it is the Indoor World Championships. I don’t care if they contested half-pipe snow boarding, that doesn’t make it an Indoor Track and Field Event.

I saw the javelin event was on the schedule and thought it odd. On the other hand, it would be even more spectacular if set up indoors aimed at a giant dart board. As the good ol’ boys say in these Missouri “hollers”, “Thank about it.”

If you look at the schedule, it is also the “Winter World Throws Championships”

I’ve noticed that there are no left handed throwers on the banner. Only one Black person (the pole vaulter), and no cross-eyed, hunchback dwarf from Thailand with a club foot who speaks with a lisp.
Therefore, I am demanding an apology and three million dollars to be sent to me immediately.

God almighty. I despair sometimes. Why can’t WMA organisers state a deadline and keep to it? All this mucking about only serves to reduce athlete confidence in the entire system.

And it must make life impossible for the country coordinators responsible for collating individual entries and sending them to WMA.
