A special athlete is silenced: Cancer claims Louise Clark
Louise had a spectacular voice and verve for life.

Louise Clark, a national-class sprinter who volunteered her world-class singing talents at track meets for more than a decade, died over the weekend, confirms the Armory Track in New York. Private notes indicate that the cancer she’d been fighting for years had reached her brain. Louise — a W50 sprinter who lived in Queens Village, New York — competed as recently as July 2007 and performed incredible renditions of the national anthem and “God Bless America” at Maine nationals last summer. I met her there for the first time and took several photos that barely did justice to her passion and professionalism. I’m awaiting word on funeral arrangements.
She was a special person who touched many lives.

Louise was a good friend and will be greatly missed by all of us who hung out with her as well as those who just heard her sing her beautiful heart out.Rest In Peace

I only knew Louise through her voice and singing. She was fantastic. She will be missed. Rest in peace Louise.
According to someone who would know, Louise passed away on Sunday (March 23). He told me the service would be this Saturday (March 29) in New York, and thus many athletes will miss it (they will be in Boston). In his opinion, Louise would have wanted the athletes to continue with their competitions.
I will say something about Louise on Saturday at Boston before the 400 finals for women. Louise and I were a great partnership: I would introduce her and she would sing. I think she had the tougher part, but she always came through beautifully. Nobody could match her.
So very sad. I did not know Louise but well remember her singing at Orono. She had a lot of talent and seemed full of life.

Louise was a rare and wonderful person. Her voice and spirit will be missed.
Louise was a wonderful..KIND..talented woman….we will ALL miss her dearly….she was a POSITIVE force in Masters Track and Field.
Louise was a beautiful person, she introduced me to the sprints when I turned 50 and she was always there to help give hints on training and drills.
I will miss her smiles and her hugs. Services will be this Saturday.
i was fortunate to hear louise sing in maine,and thought what a gift she had,and how blessed we were to be there listening. may she rest in peace…albert
