Here’s the entrant booklet for Porto Alegre world masters meet
Folks in Porto Alegre have yet to post the minute-by-minute, venue-by-venue schedule for worlds. I’m also getting questions about transportation and other nitty-gritty details. Aside from the FAQ posted on the WMA website, some questions are addressed in the 48-page athletes book, which can be seen here. (Thanks to a Canadian friend for sharing the PDF.) Most world meets appear well-run on the surface, and certainly Brazil has a deep interest in making worlds go smoothly (lest their World Cup and 2016 Olympic reputations be tarnished). But I’m getting a little nervous about behind-the-scenes train wrecks. Let’s hope the delay in posting a detailed time and transportation schedule isn’t a sign of dysfunction. I’ve written to Porto Alegre for time sked. Stay tuned.

Let’s add to that the fact that I keep hearing something about multiple venues. I don’t know where the main one is, much less unnamed additional sites.
You tell ’em, Bubba. I have no involvement in this meet and have barely been paying attention, but I was surprised by how soon it is coming up. In fact, it starts on the 16th of this month!!! Egad, that’s 13 days from today. Somehow I had thought it was much later.
Oh, well, maybe they will get it together before the final call is given for the first event.
I think the WMA prez is too busy bashing the 2011 Sacramento meet to worry about this one.
Thanks Peter. You are always missed sir!!
We cannot blame everything on the Brazilians. What is missing is a USATF coordinator for WMA. We are all fighting for ourselves and often are flying blind. Will there be a USATF representative in Porto Alegre who will coordinate events like relays and be available for any questions or problems we may have???
email received from USATF Membership (shirlcapps?)today (10/11)says our Team Manager is Philip Greenwald. Listed his cell and home phone number (and email address). And of course, our own Mary Rosado would likely be helpful too (She’s listed as Non-Stadia Team Manager).

As an aside, why aren’t team info boards on the web (cloud-stored spreadsheet would make life easier than going to the stadium to get news)? Ultimate in irony that the board is physically located at the Technical Information Center…
Great idea, S-Dude. It would save athletes time, since many compete at venues miles from the bulletin board. Write to Phil and make the suggestion. If he can’t set up such a board, anyone can use my Forums for this purpose. I can even create a separate board for Porto Alegre.
