Second call for milers: Register soon for Jan. 25 Hartshorne races

Tom, leading here at 2009 Lahti race, is a fair middle-distancer himself.

Tom Hartshorne and Charlie Fay, directors of the indoor milefest called Hartshorne, are looking for runners to partake of their annual celebration. Charlie writes: “With the holiday season now in full swing, we hope you’re also finding time for some track workouts in preparation for the 47th Hartshorne Masters Memorial Mile coming up January 25, 2014, at Barton Hall in Ithaca, NY. One of the premier masters races in the country featuring some of the top male and female athletes, the Hartshorne Memorial Masters Mile is always a thrill. All awards this year will be based on age-graded times. And you won’t want to miss the post-race banquet to watch the race video, meet your friends, family, and competitors at the awards ceremony, enjoy superb food and drink, and for those who still have their legs, get out on the dance floor!” Entry forms are here. For more info, write Tom at thartshorne@twcny.rr.com or Charlie at crf1@cornell.edu.

This is one of,if the the best, indoor mile competitions in the world. Both sexes, all Masters divisions, Pete Taylor announcing all the races,Great awards banquet and Tom as a wonderful host.

Right you are, Nolan. If things go the way they did last year we will eat at the Antlers restaurant on Dryden Road in Ithaca on Friday night (Jan 24), then get to bed early at the hotel.

On Saturday (Jan 25) we will start running the Hartshorne Miles about 10-11 AM or so. After finishing in the early afternoon we will go somewhere to rest. At 5:00 PM or thereabouts we will head over to the Country Club of Ithaca on Pleasant Grove Road.

At the country club we will eat good food, congratulate one another, watch videos of the races, and enjoy a very nice awards ceremony. After that, some of us will dance. A good time will be had by all.

Please get your entries in on time.

Yes this is a GREAT race and one of a kind. you want to be there and see the top racers go head to head. Make sure to cheer your favorites adn possibly call splits, well at least write them down for later.
LATER yes the food is great and the dancing has good music mix
If you make the dinner Friday at Antlers you will hear the lastest on “Recovery, the five “R’s”” by Fred
As Nolan would say “the brother from the north” is coming down. See you there
    Thanks Fred
