Major survey says old age begins at 68! Not for us folks, tho

Pete Magill linked to this great demographic/opinion survey.  It says: “When Does Old Age Begin? At 68. That’s the average of all answers from the 2,969 survey respondents. But as noted above, this average masks a wide, age-driven variance in responses. More than half of adults under 30 say the average person becomes old even before turning 60. Just 6% of adults who are 65 or older agree.” Of course, the older you get, the farther “old age” gets pushed back. My dad is almost 81, and he insists he doesn’t feel old. Aches and pains aside, age is in your brain. So when do YOU think “old age” starts? Me? Try 93.

This study reports that only 40% of those 65-74 and 17% of age 75+ check the internet daily.
Levels of participation in older masters track age brackets will be enhanced if entry forms and other information about track meets are sent to these groups by snail mail newsletters and through newspapers.

It definitely doesn’t happen in a moment, on a date, in a specific year; it’s a gradual shift. At middle-aged, I’m stiffer after exercise, the hair is graying and the wrinkles are appearing. The process has begun. I can’t exert the same physical force that I used to be able to, can’t see quite as well, but I get the same enjoyment, or maybe more, out of exercising. Love to run fast (my fast) and see what this body can do…and I think I have more gratitude than ever before for what it can do.

AGE IS A MATTER OF MIND,
IF YOU DON’T MIND, IT DOES NOT MATTER..
AT 74.5 YRS. I FEEL KIND OF MIDDLE AGED, CAN’T TELL YOU WHAT’S HAPPENING IN 10 MORE YRS.
    ANYONE WITH ME?

Old age starts when you feel old.
Besides as one who has survived cancer I welcome old age, whatever that might be.
