Blunders R Us: Several corrections

Just received a note from Kamal Jabbour, the brains and chief engineer behind the trackmeets.com webcast of the Boston USATF nationals (and many other events). He corrects my misinformation about the Stacy Dragila interview obscuring coverage of the final laps of the masters 3000, which produced an American indoor record. He writes: “We DID show the race. The video stayed on the track. We sent the audio to Stacy.”

However, he agrees that it was a mistake to shift the focus from the Brian Pope/Tony Young duel at the climax of the event.
Kamal writes: “I agree. No more interviews.”
I apologize for passing along incorrect information on the webcast.
I also apologize to Coach Ross Dunton for asserting that WMA hired him to keep performance lists. My contacts within WMA now inform me that Coach Ross is NOT being paid for this incredibly time-consuming task. He should be — even with its funky format and curious omissions.
Also, I talked to Nadine O’Connor by phone tonight and got more details on her world W60 vault record and partner Bud Held’s M75 milestone 10-footer. She said her vault was measured in feet and inches but was rounded down to 2.81 meters (for anyone interested in record or rankings consideration). Bud’s jump was rounded down to the metric height of 3.05 meters. The heights were measured both before and after the record clearances, but won’t be submitted for records consideration, she said.
Let’s hope later performances by the pair render these marks moot.
