Troy Douglas points to IAAF 200 finals
Troy Douglas, the recent M40 record claimant at 100 and 200 (on the same day!) isn’t your typical elite elder sprinter, oblivious to masters. In a recent e-mail exchange, Troy acknowledged: “I was aware of the records going in, but it was not my goal — no challange.” Unlike masters, however, he didn’t have to foot his travel expenses to Mexico City for the Banamex Grand Prix, saying “(I) did not pay my way. I had an invite.”
Asked how he trains, Troy told me: “I hang out (with) the young guys and just have lots of fun. I have more fun now than 10 years ago.”
And he confirmed that in the wake of his two-year nandrolone ban dating back to 1999 that, “Yes, they still test me almost every month.”
Troy says he expects to compete in the IAAF World Championships in Paris this summer, qualifying under the less-stringent “B” standard in the 200 meters by winning his national championships.
“Yes. I can win the Dutch champ(ionships),” he wrote. “The next guy to me is 20.48. I just have to keep my cool. I know at the worlds I can get in the 200 finals. That’s my goal for 2003.”

Troy, I see you’re doing well for 40. Willie, Pop and I send our blessings (Willie Caldwell trained with Troy in Tucsan AZ in 1992 and almost made the Oly Team @ 400m). So Troy have you given up on the 400?
