Catching up with history — Buffalo, Gateshead and Brisbane results
And the beat goes on. My 9-month-old pursuit of complete results from world masters track championships continues today with the posting of thee PDFs — the results books of the 1995 Buffalo WAVA meet (link fixed) , the 1999 Gateshead WAVA meet and the 2001 Brisbane WAVA meet. Monster files all (as much as 11 megabytes), they require a broadband connection. But they are well worth the download time.
Buffalo had some terrible (hot) weather — but sizzling performances, including the greatest masters high jump duel in history as James Barrineau beat fellow Olympian Dwight Stones with a then-M40 world record of 6 feet 11 inches.
Gateshead’s weather was near perfect, and the meet produced an amazing 30 world age-group records. Brisbane featured 19 world records, including the first sub-14 mark in the 110 hurdles (by Karl Smith, an American by way of Jamaica).
Of course, you need the free Adobe Reader software to open these PDF files, but most computers come with Reader. And my PDFs are searchable (although spelling errors creep in sometimes, which can render a search unreliable). To search for a specific person or event, you hit CTRL-F on a PC or apple (command)-F on a Mac, then type in the keyword and hit ENTER or the return key.
Earlier, I posted PDFs of the first world masters championships — Toronto 1975 — and the Gothenburg 1977 world masters meet.
I have several more meets to go in the current batch, generously donated by sub-3-hour marathon man (in his 70s!) Ed Whitlock of Canada. My goal remains to make available all results from all World Masters Athletic Championships that aren’t already on the Web.
Stay tuned.

Ken, thanks for the archived results, but the ’95 Buffalo results link doesn’t work. Hope you can get this up, so I can see how some old friends did! Thanks, Bryan B
Sorry, BB. I fixt the link. Buffalo results PDF can now be downloaded. Thanks for the heads up!
I paid good money for the results book for the 1995 World Meet in Buffalo. I am still waiting for it to be delivered or for my refund.
