Alisa Harvey inches closer to Trials qualifier in 800

Alisa Harvey has a second to go. At the UNC Elite Meet today in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Alisa lowered her own W40 American Record for 800 meters to 2:07.57 — bringing her to close proximity of the Olympic Trials qualifying mark of 2:06.50. She broke the AR she set in late March of 2:08.05. Alisa writes; “I was quite pleased with my strong finish. Now I hope to find a race to run a touch faster!â€

Alisa shared details of her latest record:

I went through the first 200 in 30 seconds and last place. The race was already strung out since there was a rabbit going through at 58-59. I passed a couple runners on the front straight coming into the bell lap at 62 seconds. I was working on passing another athlete on the curve going into the back stretch.
As I passed her I kept gaining on runners one and two about 20 meters ahead of me. I came through 600 in about 1:34. I was still gaining on the runners coming out of the final curve. I passed runner two in the final stretch and was still gaining on the leader at the finish, but couldn’t catch her before the finish.
