Don Neidig posts second M65 world indoor record for January

Running at the same venue as his 60-meter WR, M65 Don Neidig yesterday beat the listed world indoor record for the 200-meter dash at the Cherry and Silver Invitational in Albuquerque. Official results again fail to note his mark. But Don posted a time of 25.54, which edged the listed WR of 25.59 by Germany’s great Guido Müeller in 2005. The listed American indoor record is 25.81 by Stephen Robbins at Clermont-Ferrand worlds in 2008. Steve also holds the M65 American outdoor record of 25.20, which now is in Don’s sights. On the Age-Graded Tables, Don’s 25.54 is worth an open (age 20-30) time of 19.9!  Let’s see what Usain Bolt does in 42 years!

Don writes: “As last time, they ran me in a heat with high schoolers; I
came in second in my heat. Paperwork was turned in to the USATF
official. Timing was FAT (they seem to have very good equipment there,
and the track is nice — bodes well for the indoor nationals next
year). I’ve been assured there is no question whatever with the timing
or the track dimensions. They made a public
announcement that I had broken the record, as well as the one last
week.â€

Congratulations to Don! I have ran at a couple of the Lobo All-Comer meets and I will second the fact things bode well for indoor nationals in 2011.
    1. The altitude will aid the sprints, jumps & throws.
    2. The track is very fast, and I believe that it has the same specifications as the one at the University of Arkansas, which is where numerous world class athletes have recorded 200 & 400 PR’s.
    3. There is a hotel attached to the convention center where the meet is held.
    4. Most of the downtown hotels have free shuttles that will pick you up at the airport, transport you to and from the meet, and take you back to the airport.
    5. Unfortunately, for those not from NM, CO, and AZ, the altitude will be a drawback for distances over 1K.
