Eugene wins 2008 Olympic Trials: a test for TJ
TJ is Tom Jordan, the just-retired executive vice president of World Masters Athletics. He’s also, with Barbara Kousky, the track majordomo in Oregon. And he’ll be majorly involved in helping the Oregon Track Club host the 2008 Olympic Trials at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, site of three previous Trials and also the 2000 and 2003 USATF national masters championships.
Kousky in the early 1990s was USATF Masters T&F Committee chairwoman.
So the big question for us is:
Will TJ and BK do justice to masters exhibition events at the 2008 Trials? The 2000 and 2004 Trials had two masters events each. Any chance of having more? Having them on more than one day? Helping out with travel and lodging expenses?
In 2004, Mary Slaney was training for a masters comeback at the Sacramento Trials. But she got injured, and the masters event was switched from 1500 to 800. Maybe she’ll be up for another try in her hometown in ’08.
We’ll bird-dog developments as they occur.

How about a throwing event? I think the sport is called track and field.
