Eurovets claim 15 world records at their Hungary championships
Andrea Benatti reports on the Italian track site Web Atletica that 15 world age-group records were set at the European Veterans Athletics Championships last month in NyΓreyghΓ‘za, Hungary. See the list. But aside from reporting that nobody failed a drug test, the official Eurovets website has little to say about these amazing results. No summary of records, for example. βDo you know whatβs frustrating?β writes Andrea. βThat you play a European Championship and Masters, in fact, an event so important that no stays occasional track here and there on the net. The site of EVAA, the European Federation of Athletics Master is there to say that he has sufficiently the event, but from a technical standpoint there is very little. I would say nothing.β (Thatβs a rough translation.)

The Eurovets home page features this shot of tired photog Kurt Kaschke at its Hungary championships in July -- but no pictures of athletes.
Andrea continued, and listed the records (which I havenβt checked for accuracy):
Here: there is no comment to show the world that is not to mention the number of medals and the usual suspects. So goes Nyiregyhaza also acts as an assembly line in the piece passes from hand to hand, and you think the next event: a missed opportunity by many to have their say and contribute to creating a world βaliveβ not only the mere performance of an institutional role, which today is made up of only numbers (medals), and very little content: sports, but also and above all human.
Stimulate discussions on performance, including trends in the world masters (which are changing, thank goodness), on the individual, because the βsocial network that is built around a passion limited (which can be athletics over-35) creates the same little universe where everyone can recognize and compare.
Run the homework, take any medal and then go home to enjoy it hung on a wall that did not taste the same share it with someone. O no? Or not? You need to create the halo around the medal must have made a sort of aura of great memories that have lived with it.
For now I offer you another tool to give some inspiration: the world record and European beaten in Hungary are 15 world and 22 European. What follows is their list with the next record beaten: in the over-80 launches have taken over the new gear βlighterβ. All with benefit of inventory, since the records are a taboo subject at the international level. News (maybe I do not remember β¦) still no date: Carla dropouts set a new European record of W50 pole vault (3.30).

Often Ivar SΓΆderlind, the European statistician is quite fast in giving lists of records, This time he isn’t, I do not know why, but some patience seems the best stategy.
The list of the Italian site isn’t complete either.
To try to be fair to all, I don’t thing the Eurovets organisation has a record anywhere near as bad as that of WMA in failing to celebrate its major championships, but that’s not to excuse it not happening, of course.
The likes of Lesley Richardson and I covered pretty much all of the Eurovets Championships and the results are available on our respective web sites (see http://www.tomphillipsphotos.co.uk ,for example) And we were not alone, so no one can have any excuses like lack of visual material to accompany stories of the record set, and to show how good these championships were.
I do sympathise with Andrea’s frustration. I guess some of the issues are about how you publicise something in which so many nations compete, in an even-handed way. Concentrating on the record takers is perhaps one way, but it’s a very small tip of a very big iceberg when so much talent is on parade.
As Tom says above we did cover a large amount of track and field and pictures on my website http://www.rikko2photo.co.uk will illustrate that. The frustration year after year of inadequate photography to cover peoples achievements and this had varied vastly prevails.
At least we give people the option of having quality memories of their times at the championships.
