Jeff Davison’s hurdle relay dream came true at Orono
Jeff Davison had a dream, and with the faith and creativity of a Bible teacher, it came true. As I first described in February, this Southern California M45 hurdler wanted the Orono nationals to offer an exhibition relay event for hurdlers. I cheered his efforts (though I privately doubted it would come off as envisioned). Boy, was I wrong. Jeff has posted results and details of the Orono shuttle hurdle relays on his woodenhurdles Web site. Here’s a group shot of the historic crew who gave Orono a cool barrier-banging finale. Jeff writes: “Why was the event run? Hurdlers rarely have an opportunity to run a four person relay with hurdles. Most hurdlers shared stories of running them in high school or college but not since.” Jeff’s next mission? Shuttles at indoor nationals. Godspeed, Jeff Davison.

i had an absolute blast. thanks so much to jeff for getting this off the ground…the smiles on our faces are testament to joy in our hearts.i’m sure that all the guys that ran feel the same way. let’s get this indoors as well.congratulations to all who participated, and to those behind the scenes…way to go !
Ditto. Well done Mr. Davison, and a huge thanks to all the hurdlers and officials. I didn’t think there would be enough hurdlers to make this happen. And the officials had to hustle to pick up quite a few hurdles during the races. Still, one would think Davison could get the wind to cooperate and reverse direction during the race to always be at our backs no matter which way we’re running!
