Jeff Laynes CRUSHES American record in M40 100-meter dash
Masters mole 658c writes: “Strange, somehow this got missed. I was talking about it with a friend at work who spoke to Jeff by phone- 10.5 legal wind at Woody Wilson meet. He said he was on track for a 10.3 this season.” Yes, newbie M40 Jeff Laynes clocked 10.50 for the 100 with a 0.6 meters per second wind April 16 at the Woody Wilson Classic at the University of California at Davis, near Sacramento. See results here (and below). This beats anything Aaron Thigpen or Willie Gault ran as an M40. For complete meet results, check this out. Am I overlooking any other great geezer marks? Only worrisome thing: Jeff Laynes isn’t signed up yet for Sacto worlds. What is he thinking?
The world record for M40 remains the incredible 10.29 by Holland’s Troy Douglas in 2003.
1 Laynes, Jeff Brooks 10.50 0.6
2 Haywood, Isaiah Chico State 10.56 0.6
3 Billing, Jeff Unattached 10.59 0.6
4 Leeks, Rayshaun Butte 10.78 0.4
5 Banks, Gavin Unattached 10.80 0.4
6 Childs, westlund Unattached 10.85 -0.6
7 Brown, Keven American River 10.98 0.4

He is thinking I do not wanted to get tested.
Why is Willie Gault and some of the other WR and AR who do not compete at drug testing meets?
Jeff already tested positive once in his life, so no need to take another chance on another test.
I watched this race. Jeff looked great! That said, I would be pleasantly surprised by 10.30, 10.40 is more in line.
Most likely it is a sponsorship issue. Jeff runs for Brooks. They pay for or reimburse his entry fees, clothing etc. I highly doubt Brooks would cover the reg. fee for a Masters meet, nor will they pay $60 or so for the USA singlet just to replace their own.
Personally I don’t like to presume others guilt regardless of prior circumstances. I’m sure there are some masters out there in just about every event that our attempting to cheat a bit, and I hope they are caught and weeded out someday.
I would tend to believe that Jeff is clean and training hard until proven otherwise.
10.29 is almost beleivable under the right circumstances, a bit out there, but tiem will tell.
I would like to believe that he’s clean too–but for me unless he’s tested and we know for sure the times he’s running don’t mean squat–he was busted once-which leads one to think he would be more prone to cheat again.
Tell him and willie to run at the worlds and then go get checked by usada or world doping.i know the truth been in the game for 30yrs.The new drug is out 10 months now.price tag 400 and up they run at low key meets or they have there times fixes.Track world stop riding the coat tails of the dirty we all do things to get by in training .But stop staying you can run the times you did in your 20’s unless you are doing hgh,clenbutral,oxymeth,eui-gan,deca-smack cream .yep i put it out there [ there are some great master runners A.T/K.B/D.A/R.T/A.D/D.D/D.M /B.C /N.S MAY GOD BLESS YOU GUYS AT THE WORLDS.
