Kevin Morning eyes 2010 nationals, 2011 worlds in comeback
We’ve missed sprint great Kevin Morning in recent years, but he’s begun coming back. Almost two years ago he had surgery on his left knee (torn meniscus). “I now have arthritis, but I am able to move pretty freely,” Kevin writes from Northern California. “My biggest challenge is that I cannot do several hard workouts a week. I hope to find some balance between now and next summer as I want to compete in the nationals in 2010 and the worlds in 2011.” He hopes to run in the USATF Pacific Association Masters Championships on June 14. “My goals ultimately are to run under 12 and 24. Sounds like a tall order, but I think I can do it.” His recent M50 mark of 12.72 in March shows he still has that Morning mojo. Go Kevin!
Kevin Morning starred in masters exhibition at 2004 Mt. SAC Relays.

Kevin,
I wondered what had happened to Kevin. He was a shooting star when he competed and one of the fastest kindest people in Masters Track. Glad to see you back Kevin…Stay strong and fast.
Kevin- it will be good to see you running again! You’ve been missed!
Welcome back my friend.
Kevin,
Looking forward to seeing you again.

I want to thank all of you for the thoughtful and motivating words. I must admit that I did not have a lot of respect for arthritis when it was first diagnosed. Time has allowed me to gain some wisdom though. Arthritis is no joke. I thought I could just blast my way through it but this is simply not the case.
In closing, I would only say, “Love what you GET to do.” I did not know how much I loved running until I could not do it (temporarily).
Regarding June 14th, there is as of yet no information posted on the meet, schedule, entry, fees, etc It is only a month away.
Hey Kevin,
It’s been way toooo long! Cmon back soon.

Good to hear from you, Shemayne. Thank you for the encouragement. I hope all is well you and your family.
Kevin was the P.E. teacher for my sons in elementary school. I remember them coming home from school and saying, “Mom, our teacher can run REALLY FAST!”
I’m looking forward to seeing some “really fast” running from you, Kevin.
Kevin was my high school long and triple jump coach. He made a lasting impact on my life with his hard work and always pushing me to give it a little bit more. A true track and field icon, Go Kevin, Go!
