Lee Evans update: He’s doing well, no longer in pain, says his sister
Elliott Almond of the San Jose Mercury News tells me this morning: “I just talked to [sister] Rosemary and you can pass this along. Lee is doing well, no longer in pain and his vitals are stable. The hospital’s pituitary specialist is in D.C. until a week from Monday so the surgery won’t take place until then. We expect Lee to be sent home in the interim but that is not official yet. As I believe you know the tumor is benign and they want to surgically remove it going through the nasal cavity and not opening the cranial. The neurosurgeon also hopes Lee responds to medication that is shrinking the tumor.â€

I wish him the best, a speedy and full recovery but most of all I hope that this bring Lee Evans name along with his accomplishments on and off the track back to the light.
I wish this great athlete and man, and role model a safe operation and a speedy recovery from someone who thrilled in his exploits in the Olympics so long ago
I wish you the speedy recovery of a 43.86. The L. A. coliseum and Mt. has never been the same since you were there and the runners you mentored from Nigeria such as Egbunike. My grandson received the book, “Something in the air” where you are extensively covered. There is nothing I can tell you about struggling with pain (440/400)meters taught you that and you managed to run through the tape and win the race. There are thousands out there who expecting you to do it again. All we are asking is that you give us one more race (with your health)and a world record. You have earned it. Thanks again and this time do it for yourself.
I am in touch with Betty Shine, a famous healer in Sussex. I am asking all my Facebook friends to imagine Lee’s tumor is the ground so that as we run we hit the tumor and shrink it with every running step we take.
