M50 national champion Jim Chinn, whose claim to fame is he attended the same Tucson high school as my wife, burned some quick sprints at the collegiate Mangrum Invitational over the weekend in San Marcos, California, north of San Diego. He ran the 2 in 24.06 and the 4 in 53.86. Both are the fastest times in America this season in his age group.  Jim’s other claim to fame is he was the M45 gold medalist in the 400 at 2005 San Sebastian worlds. Competing for Sprint Force America, Jim took the 400 title last month at Landover nationals in 55.28.  With all-time bests (at age 19) of 22.8 for 200 and 49.8 for 400, he’s lost only a couple steps in 31 years. On the Age-Graded Tables, his 2009 season bests correspond to Open times of 20.74 and 46.96. Talk about back to the future. Nice runs, Jim.

You’re running very well, Jim. Ever since you “ran wild” at Decatur in 2004 I knew you were a force to be reckoned with.
Simply… Jim’s a “STUD!”
