Masters musicians sought for Charlotte jam session
Mike Soule, an M50 vaulter who lives in Minnesota, has put out a call for athlete musicians to perform at Charlotte masters nationals, possibly at the Athletes Banquet. He writes: “Basically what I’m guessin’ the song list will be is probably 3-chord rock ‘n’ roll and some R&B.. . . Anyone that wants to, or could, play can contact me at vaultingeezer@yahoo.com . It would be fun.”
His original post said:
“Bob Banagel (newly returned masters vaulter) and I have been playing in bands our whole life. So, after both of us decided that we’re going to meet each other for the first time at Charlotte, we thought a Geezers band should be put together. So, if there are any of you who are going to go to Charlotte and can play, drums, bass, guitar, or keyboards, or horns (we could pull off some old R& B stuff with horns) let me know. Hopefully we can have a band together by August and I could contact the organizers and tell them we could play a few tunes at the bar-b-que. (Organizers love that stuff, ya know). Pole vaulters are people with many talents so I would guess there has to be a few more “pickers” out there in our bunch besides Bob and me.. Later.”
Just a minute ago, he wrote:
“I’d really like to have a little organization to the “set” if we actually play in Charlotte. Please have those who might be interested to e-mail me ASAP with what they can do. I can send out some CDs with a few proposed tunes and arrangements that those who might play can listen to and maybe even woodshed to before we get there.”
Watch out, y’all!
I’m bringing my bongos!

If Nolan Shaheed competes, you want him in your band. Be ready though, the brother can play!
