Millrose Games to have full fields in masters relays

We dodged a bullet. According to organizers of the masters 4×4 relays at the Millrose Games in February, full complements of club teams are good to go in both the men’s and women’s races. All lanes filled (with an alternate team ready to step in for a missing women’s club.) This averts the embarrassment of having masters events with few entrants — which might have spelled doom for future masters involvement at Millrose, one of the most prestigious indoor track meets in the world.

Jim Reilly and Mary Rosado passed along these notes:
Reilly writes:

Mary writes:
Yes, we have selected teams — and no fear — we had more than enough applicants in both men and women’s field…. Here is my women’s field. Names and times to be provided later. The clubs gave me lists with alternates so I’m waiting for final lists.
Atoms Track Club
Bohemia Track Club
Central Park Track Club
Genesee Valley Harriers
Northport Running Club
Shore Athletic Club

Alternate team: Warren Street AC
Me again:
Interesting that Dallas-based Southwest Sprinters TC is ranked first in the men’s race — and that New York-based Sprint Force America isn’t listed at all. (In fact, SFA’s Web site also seems kaput.)
The key now is close, competitive races with lots of fast legs. No doubt the atmosphere will contribute to some great performances. Just being there is a thrill and an honor. But I predict at least three crashes. That’s short-track speed skating for you.
