Not freezing everywhere; Oceania masters meet begins in Bendigo
The Bendigo Advertiser is doing a bang-up job covering the just-begun Oceania Masters Athletic Championships in southeast Australia. The official site still lacks results, but the local paper reports some Day 1 dec scores, including 2326 points for Rad Leovic, 86. Maybe these shots by Brendan McCarthy will help take the edge off the East Coast freeze-snap. (Down under, the highs are in the mid-70s.) We hope our East Coast friends are keeping their warm spirits amid the brutal cold. How are y’all doing, and training, on the right coast?

The pictures were entertaining! I don’t need to feel thawed out, though, as I don’t live in the east…we need some cold rain out here in California. Been too much sunshine and smog this winter.
Also, I want to offer a minor correction. Bendigo is in southEAST Australia, inland a bit from Melbourne, not in southwest Australia. Sorry, that’s the professional geographer in me talking.
Thanks for the post, Ken!
Keeping warm by training inside! I coach at a local high school and in return I get to do my training at their facility. Training with the high schoolers sure keeps you on your toes.
Ummm. Looks like the January 7th hurdles, 100m and 800m events went to hand times. Always disheartening to go to a major meet and wind up with hand times that are not record eligible.
