Photos of Daprano 800 record, West Region and more!

Jeanne Daprano’s W70 American record 800 at Oxy is chronicled in this new photo album. My favorite shot shows Jeanne approaching the 400 mark, with members of the SoCal TC (including recordman Nolan Shaheed) watching in amazement. After the race, she gets a debriefing by her coach, Jackson Steffes, himself an American record holder (in the M50 4×4). The final photo shows Jeanne with Nolan while she was hunting for signatures for her record paperwork — a chore that shouldn’t have to happen at championship meets. Does Alan Webb have to put up with this crap?

I also uploaded an album showing the new editor of National Masters News winning the W40 1500. Editor Carmel Papworth-Barnum and her husband Larry, the M60 sprinter/middle-distance star, live in Reno, Nevada.
And finally, here’s some West Region action I caught on Day 2. A special thanks to meet announcer Bill Fitzpatrick, who use mastersrankings.com and a bunch of printouts to update folks on how performances rated nationally this season. He also announced times within moments of the finish, thanks to the computer work of FinishLynx’s Don Chadez.
Be sure to try the slideshow function. (Click VIEW SLIDESHOW at upper left). You can set how fast the photos are shown, as well as their max size (use N0 LIMIT) and the kind of fade (BLEND works fine).
Enjoy!

My appreiciation goes to whoever takes those pictures of great athletes. Now I know who Jeane Daprano is! I am constantly checking blog and results.I know I’ll never get to meet them but sure enjoy their accomplishments. I am in the 70-74 age group too.
    I compete mostly in Texas.
