Seth Brower’s Texas vs. World meet in October is masters-friendly
Superstar meet director Seth Brower — the force behind dozens of meets — is promoting one Oct. 5-6 worth noting. Called Texas vs. The World Challenge, the event will benefit charities KidSight and the Wounded Warrior Project. It includes a decathlon (one for women, too) and a throws pentathlon. See the schedule. Seth, brother of longtime masters hurdler and USATF national official and webmaster Jeff Brower, labors in obscurity most of the time. Next year he should be considered for USATF’s David Pain Award for distinguished service to masters track. As far as scoring in Texas vs. The World (a somewhat hyperbolic name for a small meet in San Marcos), don’t bet against the Lone Star State. Best of luck, podners.

Thanks to Seth, Jeff, and crew for all the well run meets.
Don’t put down ‘small’ San Marcos! It’s a lovely (if admittedly laid back) town sitting astride the Edwards Aquifer, mid-way between Austin (AKA Music City) and San Antonio (Remember the Alamo!). The Edwards is the source of 1000’s of gallons of refreshingly pure spring water that bubbles up 1000’s of gallons a minute to form the San Marcos river (bathing suits optional, in some parts). If you haven’t “tubed” here, well, partner, you just haven’t lived! Finally, for history buffs, it’s where LBJ got his college edikation (now a branch of the Univ of Texas University system). Trust me, San Marcos is one of the more pleasant stops in the Texas Hill Country, if not in all of small-town America. One final word: “Texas BBQ:” it’s so big down there, Texas Monthly magazine actually has a full-time “BBQ Editor”.
Seth puts on great meets, and for all those Masters looking for that “one last shot” at a PR, it’s not unusual for him to schedule meets as late as early December! I’m really looking forward to this one – he’s come up with an awesome medal design!

Dear Athletes, Coaches, Parents:
As you probably know, due to football playoffs we had to cancel the Lions Relays track meet.
However, we did work out a series of Winter meets with St Michaels in Austin. We’ll have 4 meets this winter on the following Sunday afternoons:
Dec 14, Jan 11, Jan 25, Feb 8. There is a rainout date of Feb 15 if needed.
We’ll have running events, throws(javelin, discus, and shot), and pole vault.
Below is the link to the meet information and registration. Note the great discount if you do all 4 meets.

Note that the entry form has not been updated, but we will have those events at 1PM. Just write on the form if you are doing those events.
The Last Chance Throws Meet has been changed to Dec 13. The updated entry form will be on the trackforlife.com website later next week.
Thanks and please spread the word.
