Southwest Sprinters, Millrose AA win masters relays at Millrose

A Southwest Sprinters team averaged about 54.4 per 400 last night to win the masters men’s 4×4 at the 104th annual Millrose Games. Not sure who was on the team, but their winning time of 3:37.58 is pretty nifty indoors, and they beat runner-up Greater Philly TC by 15 seconds. Whew! (Men’s results are here.) The Millrose AA won the masters women’s 4×4 in 4:28.04, besting the mighty Athena Track Club’s 4:32.38. (Women’s results are here.)

I think it’s VERY good considering the 166 yard (~150 meter) track.

Ken, it would be great to know who ran in those races. Is that something you could find out from Millrose?

Okay, found the list of entrants, though not who actually ran. It’s at http://www.usatf.org/events/2011/MastersInvitationalProgram/meets/Millrose/status.asp

Congratulations to Millrose AA on becoming the 2011 Millrose Games Champions. They ran a great race and deserve the win for their sustained effort and achievement over the years especially with such a small group of masters women. I know for sure that they and Athena were struggling with injuries, and health conditions. It was probably the case for the other teams too. Lisa Daley from Central Park T.C. put on a wonderful display of 400M running in the opening leg. She told me she split 60 secs, which is amazing on that track. Central Park did a great job in fielding two teams and recognition should go to the Super Runners Shop for entering a team for the first time. Thank you and congratulations to everyone who took the opportunity, and put time, and effort into coming out to represent masters men and women at the Millrose Games. Thank you too, Mary Rosado for your work from all the master runners.

Not very cool that two mens teams were dns. Both from Central Park. All the women turned up and ran – and ran well – 4 mens teams ran well – but 2 mens teams no-shows from the same club – what gives?

Millrose AA: 1st leg, Janice Reid; 2nd leg, Sonya Badger; 3rd leg, Stephanie Rhue; anchor, Terry Ballou.
Julie, I agree whole-heartedly with your response above. Competing at Madison Square Garden is without comparison, and we are very fortunate to have a slot for masters. I hope more teams will avail themselves of the opportunity to run this event…it truly is a thrill not only to run on such a revered track, but then to sit back and watch all the professionals compete.
Congrats to all the men and women who competed and best of luck with the rest of the indoor season.

Mary H, I too wonder why Central Park did not have a men’s team represented at Millrose this year being that the meet was held in their back yard.

    Does anyone know?
