Sprinters scorch Chuck McMahon masters meet
Meet results are posted in all sorts of flavors — as HTML files, Word documents and everything in between. Here’s a new one on me: Excel spreadsheet file. Kettrell Berry, masters track chairman in the San Diego-Imperial USATF Association, has sent me results from Saturday’s Chuck McMahon masters meet in San Diego, which also served as the San Diego USATF masters championships. The file is in Excel, which means you look at different events by clicking a tab at the bottom of the page. Some great sprint marks. Men, women, all ages. Check it out.
Just some examples:
Berry, 43, won the M40 200 in 22.34 and the 400 in 50.35
James Chinn, 46, won the M45 200 in 23.53 and the 400 in 52.44.
Stan Whitley, 55, won the M55 100 in 12.27.
Veronica Amarasekara, 44, won the W40 100 in 13.27.
Rita Hanscom, 51, won the W50 100 (13.72), 200 (27.98) and 400 (65.18). And she wore racing flats, not spikes, while running the 400!
Nadine O’Connor, 63, won the W60 100 (14.19) and 200 (29.61).
Doug Smith, almost 66, won the M65 50 (7.22), 100 (13.07) and 200 (27.47).
Special kudos to Gerry Davidson, 84, who will wreak havoc on world records in the W85 age group when she arrives at that milestone.
At the McMahon meet — held at Patrick Henry High School — Davidson ran:
200 in 57.98 (W85 listed world record is 48.36)
400 in 2:04.09 (W85 listed world record is 2:13.68)
1500 in 9:17.43 (W85 listed world record is 10:33.40)
Davidson already hold two WMA world records (W80 mile in 9:00.52 and W80 3000 in 20:41.04.)
