Swarts and Sampson among USA entrants at WMA

Oh well. Two days after posting a USA roster that included all entrants’ ages, USATF has uploaded a new roster of WMA world meet entrants that deletes the ages and adds M or F. Sigh. I’ve written to USATF.org webmaster Keith Lively, asking if the ages can be restored. They’re kind of essential, since this is an age-group meet.

In any case, the latest tally shows 382 USA entrants — including 97 women.
Among the entrants is former world-class discus thrower Art Swarts, a USC athlete whose all-time best is 69.40 (227-8). Art, who now lives in New Jersey, was born Feb. 14, 1945. He won the M50 discus at the Buffalo world WAVA meet in 1995. He won the M55 discus at last year’s masters nationals in Orono, throwing the 1.5Kg platter 50.60 (166-0)
Another notable entrant is recent masters long jump record claimant Aaron Sampson of Utah — the USATF Masters M40 Field Athlete of the Year. Last year he set an M40 world best with his long jump of 7.685 (25-2 1/2) at the Utah Summer Games in Cedar City, Utah.
