Sydney World Masters Games posts shorter entrants list
A few days ago, the list of track and field entrants at the Sydney World Masters Games mysteriously vanished from the site. Then suddenly a new list of entrants, dated Sept. 16, was posted. Here it is — all 200 pages (in PDF format). Not sure what’s behind the update — except the original list, dated Sept. 8, was 205 pages. OMG! Sydney has lost five pages of people! Alert the authorities for a mass abduction! Or whatever. Anyone notice a difference between the two lists?
Sydney World Masters Games entrants posted — for a price
A couple days ago, I wrote some folks at the Sydney World Masters Games. I had a simple question: “Where might I find a final competitors list for the Sydney World Masters Games athletics meet? It had been promised for Sept. 7.” I got this not-so-simple reply yesterday from meet organizer Gill Elphinston: “Hi Ken, This information is located in your myGames account. Please find below details on where to find this.”

Hi Ken! I know you have the list alreaady, but you don’t have to actually be an entrant to have an account. You just have to “register”. I registered an account way back when I “thought” I would attend, but I never became an entrant. Don’t know however if you’re still able to do that without now being an entrant!

Hey Ken,
As a competitor I also wanted this information and I found Gill most helpful, and think that it is quite of rude of you to publicy have a crack at her, when these people are only trying to do their job and follow strict protocol. I work within the APS and i ofen find it quite hard to assist people when protocols are set above me.
I find it quite hurtful that people use the internet to vent against innocent workers.

43 names per page on the old version. 44 on the new one, at least on the pages I could be bothered to count. That’ll account for most of the difference over 200 pages.
I think Tom is right – they just tightened up the list some – the older one had a couple double entries that I noticed – not that I read the entire thing. Still got “Pierce Pierce” listed – is that Roger Pierce? Pierce Pierce” is listed for events Roger runs and is from the USA.
I noticed the date change so wanted to know what the deal was since entries are closed. My field is the same size. Looks like Tom must have it figured out. Bubba
