Tom Phillips rocks — and rolls out thousands of Lahti photos
Tom Phillips wore two hats at Lahti words — M55 sprinter and British masters track photographer. He excelled at both, winning a gold medal (as third leg of the UK team that beat the USA team in my 4×1) and building a magnificent photo archive of the WMA meet. See it here. He also wrote about his Lahti adventures here. Fellow British shooter Lesley Richardson also is posting her Lahti shots. See the first batches here.

Tom (center) battled Tom Dickson and wrote of the 200-meter final:
“The last five metres were the longest of my running career.”
In a note to me, Tom writes:
There are, in all, a bit more than 5,000 Lahti shots on the site, grouped into galleries for each day of the Championships. Conspicuously absent are any photos for Monday 3 August, which was the day of the 200m finals. I had to force myself to leave the cameras in the hotel and be a full-time athlete for the day. It nearly worked too!
As photographer to the Great Britain team, it’s obvious what is going to be in most of my photos, but there are many hundreds of shots of other athletes too. I will be grouping these into four or five additional galleries quite soon, including one specifically to group all the shots I took of athletes from the USA. Give me a few more days for that. It won’t include anything that isn’t already posted in the chronological galleries, though.
