Track TV reality show raises age limit from 52 to 72

Track TV, a masters track reality show starting production soon, has extended its deadline to Monday, April 21. More important, they’ve opened the field to athletes as old as 72. The previous max was 52. (Sorry, 73-year-olds, you’re outta luck.) Here’s the official Web site, which is promoting its meets in Las Vegas in mid-May for spectators as well. Judges for the event, which has “American Idol” overtones, have been announced as well. And some biggies among them: Ralph Boston, Barbara Ferrell-Edmonson, Martha Watson, John Powell and Tommie Smith! Thanks to Kay Glynn for the latest updates!

It is not clear how a 72 year old is supposed to compete against a 32 year old. Perspiring minds want to know.
Perhaps someone needs to introduce reality TV to the age-graded tables.

I am also curious as to what size shot put and discus will be thrown. I emailed the producers several weeks ago and was told that an answer would be made available soon.
