Uniforms available, says USATF member services czar

Over the weekend, a masters athlete wrote to USATF: “The masters going to the world (meet) in Italy have no uniforms available and they’re mandatory. Applications are due May 14th. Any suggestions for us?” The note was forwarded to Sherry Quack, USATF associations and member services manager. Sherry replied: “There are uniforms available to the masters athletes going to Riccione. They’re listed on the first page of the USA Supplemental Form (available are singlets, airborne tops, unitards, and thrower’s shirts) and are $25 each. If you want matching pieces, you can find them at the (this) website.” But that led to other questions.

The athlete wrote back to Sherry:

Thanks for your quick response. I went to products/services and then merchandise. How do you find the USA Supplemental Form? I’m at a loss to get there and I don’t see a search window. Thanks again. I’d like to be able to pass this link on to other masters T&F athletes.

Sherry replied:

Here’s the full link to the Masters Entry forms and other information pertaining to the WMA.
You can get to it by going to our web page (www.usatf.org); in the window to the right click on “Team USA” then click on World Masters Athletics Championships and it will take you to the above page. This has all the information you’ll need for the championships.
Please be sure to include the following when mailing:
Both pages of the USA Supplemental Form;
Both pages of the official WMA Entry Form – signed and dated;
A copy of your birth certificate or passport

The athlete wrote me: “I just tried it and had no problems with sizes or ordering.” This differs with the experience of other masters. Let us know if you’re still having problems finding the right unis.

    I found the pages which display “World Masters Athletics Championships 2007 Team Uniform”. On it they show two men’s singlets. Which one is sent if ordered on the “USA Supplemental Entry Form”? That page does not show a unitard, but another page (http://www.usatf.org/store/showProducts.asp?category=Authentic%20Team%20Gear) shows two types of unitard. The obvious question is which type unitard would you get if ordered on the supplemental form?
    Two other questions: 1) can you just order your “top” from these other pages and not from the supp form? 2) Is there somewhere on the USATF pages where they state what S-M-L is designed to fit in actual inch measurements?

    If any women desire a singlet – the sizes available are
    L, XL, XXL, XXXL
    no xs, s, or m left – and lemme tell you ladies – the M is pretty big – down to my knees – that I was sent for San Sebastian – very few smalls and xs apparently. No new ones have been made.
    My bet is that for 2009 there will be a new model uniform mandated – as the warehouse is gradually being emptied.
    However – unless there are a rash of late applications – it is going to be an all time small group from the US in Italy. Right now the numbers are small, and few women – maybe they checked out the singlet sizes and decided they did not want to wear an ankle length one.
