USATF masters multis meet sizzles with records
Results have yet to be posted, but the USATF National Masters Decathlon/Heptathlon Championships over the weekend in Alabama was the scene of some very hot action, including world age-group records, I’ve been told. Our friend Stefan Waltermann writes: “It was a pretty wild weekend, to say the least. The first day was very hot with high humidity; the second day was hot. We ran the 1500 with 99 in the shade. Well, no shade on the track. It must have been 130 out there! Still, everybody had a great time. I have never competed at any event with better officiating. I have xanax online rarely seen better facilities and certainly never better facilities at a high school.â€
Stefan continues:
Also, Bill Murray is a world-class athlete AND a world-class organizer. Where else would you get towels soaked in ice water during your events? Where else would you be able to drown yourselves in Gatorade and water and eat fruit all day? And man, we were invited to a AAA baseball game on Saturday evening with our own zithromax over the counter hospitality tent to enjoy Alabama barbeque! I have always been told about Southern hospitality. After having had the privilege of experiencing it, I would run barefoot to Birmingham, Alabama, to experience it again.
Stefan also copied me a note he sent to the mayor of Birmingham:
Attn. Mr. Tony Petelos
Dear Mr. Mayor,On behalf of the athletes participating in the USATF National Masters Decathlon/Heptathlon Championships June 9/10/2007 I would like to thank you for inviting us to your fine community.
Bill Murray and the mostly Hoover based officials flawlessly ran a wonderful National Championship multi-event track & field meet. Any mayor in the US would be able to claim bragging rights to have citizens like the many local women and men who made the event one for the ages (pun intended) and truly memorable. And in Spain High School, Hoover has a world class facility for track & field events.
All athletes told me that they felt honored to be allowed to experience true neurontin over the counter Southern hospitality. We all left your fine city impressed.
Thank you.

Very thoughtful gesture, Stefan.
Now if someone would be nice enough to share results, we’d all be able to appreciate your efforts.

Phil Raschker set 3 WR’s this weekend at the National Masters Decathlon/Heptathlon Championship in Hoover, Alabama. Her first was in the 80MH with a time of 13.50. The old record was 13.78. She was not expecting a record because of the -2.1 wind. She set her second WR in the HJ at 1.44m (old record 1.41m) on the way to shattering her third WR in the W-60 Heptathlon. She actually surpassed the old WR of 5876 after the sixth event and ended up with a final score of 6865. Susan Weimer W-41 set a new AR in the Heptathlon with a score of 3810 surpassing Caren Wares’ previous AR record of 3786.
Caren Ware and Kay Glynn each set AR’s in the W-40 and W-50 decathlon with scores of 4857 and 6770. I would like to thank Jeff Watry and Gill Athletics for all his time and all the implements that they contribute to Master’s track and field. We could not do it without their help.
We are lucky to have Jeff as our National Combined Events Chairman.
