Viewers, to your marks! Penn TV arrives on masterstrack.com
So what is this PTV ad at the left? What’s a “Penn Relays Viewer”? Glad you asked! It’s a link to a Penn Relays video player, which includes clips from last year and now a press conference with some coaches from Wednesday. The video player will show official Penn Relays highlights and interviews, and I’m hopeful this includes the masters 4×1 and 4×4 relays and 100-meter exhibitions. Folks who want to watch Penn live April 26-28 can pay for video stream as well. I see 16 masters events scheduled a week from Friday and Saturday. Lots of old friends are listed, including Bill Collins and Charles Allie in the M60 100. Four years ago, Bill set the M55 WR of 11.44 at Penn. The mark he’s shooting for this time is the M60 WR of 11.70 by Britain’s Ronald Taylor. Godspeed, Bill!

Yes, Ken, this year’s edition of the Penn Relays should be very interesting indeed.
M60 100 Will Bill Collins continue his remarkable comeback from Guillain-Barre syndrome? I’m guessing he will. Now, what if Bill runs 11.82 FAT with wind legal? That will be superior to the listed American mark of 11.8 set 34 years ago by the legendary Payton Jordan.
Why superior? Well, Payton’s time was recorded by stopwatch, not FAT. Personally, if Bill runs 11.82/11.83 or so I would list that next to Payton’s time, but I doubt that would happen. I just hope he can run 11.79 to get the American mark or even 11.69 to get the world.
What? A 61-year-old man might run 11.69? Well, if his name is Bill Collins he has a chance.
M55 100 Run right before the M60 100, this field is loaded at the top:
Thomas Jones of Maryland
Phil McConkey of California
Kevin Morning of California
Oscar Peyton of Maryland (many-time winner at Penn)
I think the big crowd will really react to this one.
Bill Collins will Smash the record you heard it hear live.
If you’d like to see the masters women’s 4×100 relays they are hard to find because they are not listed on the schedule. If I understand correctly there are collectively about nine W40 and W50 4×100 teams that will run during the M60 4×100 time slot early Friday afternoon.
Unfortunately it’s not possible to register for a masters women’s 100 meter dash (several of us tried), although there are about eight age categories for the masters men.
Perhaps we can get masters women’s 100m dashes and relays on the schedule next year!
