Where is USA on WMA records news board?

The WMA Web site is doing a better job getting the word out on new world age-group records. But the reporting is spotty. That’s probly becuz cooperation is spotty from the affiliates. One problem affiliate — the United States. While records from the Eurovets indoor meet have been posted on the WMA records news page, the recent USATF indoor nationals record are nowhere to been seen.

It’s obvious from the postings on the WMA site that webmaster Nick Russi is uploading, raw, just about everything that comes to him or via WMA records czar Brian Oxley. People have been sending word of their own records. Of course, records aren’t official until applications are processed.
But it’s kind of weird to allow individuals to ship news of their records to an official site without a vetting or checking process. People make typos, after all.
Sandy Pashkin is the USATF Masters official in charge of records. She should be funneling the latest USA masters records to WMA. If she can’t do it, someone at National Masters News should.
Snide aside: I see that NMN has dropped the word “official” from its previous claim that it is the “official world and U.S. publication for masters track & field, long distance running & racewalking.”

Allowing people to, essentially, post their own marks is a radical idea, but one which is certainly worth a try. These lists should get a lot more attention if they’re up to date and not tangled up in a vetting and checking process. There’s a good chance the process will be self-policing, as people will get to know who the delusionals are.
