25 in running for USATF Masters T&F Hall of Fame
Having dropped out of the Yahoo Groups masterstf mailing list a few months ago, I wasn’t aware that Coach Ross Dunton had posted the names and credits of the 25 nominees for USATF Masters T&F Hall of Fame. Candidates for the Class of 2006 are pretty awesome, including my SoCal friends Jim Selby and Sumi Onodera-Leonard. These two and two others deserve immediate induction: Courtland Gray and Max Springer. About 12-15 names are added annually to the Masters Hall of Fame — which still lacks a physical home. Winners will be announced at the Indianapolis national meeting of USATF in about six weeks.

I have had the opportunity
to see both Gordon E. Seifert and Jim Selby perform, and watch them spend time with people (in Gordon’s case kids also). I have also spent time
talking to both men. Both are great athletes and gentlemen in every aspect of the word. I wish both of them the best of luck in their path to Masters Track & Field’s Hall of Fame. They both are well deserved of the recognition.
