Bulletproof-consistent Willie Gault, 49, posted times of 10.84 and 22.12 for the 1 and 2 over the weekend at a meet in Los Angeles. See results from the Occidental Invitational. These are improvements over his Steve Scott Invite marks of 10.90 and 22.16 and his 10.86 at Mt. SAC nearly a month ago. Time for an unreality check. His marks would lead the USATF M30, M35 and M40 masters rankings — if he were listed. My advice to Willie: Don’t be shy, guy! Meanwhile, we note a sprint icon’s birthday today. Merlene Ottey is 50!
