Aussies get down with masters nationals — outdoors

My apologies to my Down Under friends for not saluting their efforts in Canberra, where they recently completed their four-day masters outdoor nationals. Hope this makes up for it. Here are results from Day 1 and Day 2 and Day 3 and Day 4. The star of the show may have been W60 Marge Allison of Queensland, who won everything in sight.

The world champ’s schedule in individual events:
Day 1: 1 Marge Allison W QLD 2:50.49 (800)
Day 2: 1 Marge Allison W QLD 57.29 (300 hurdles)
Day 3: 1 Marge Allison W QLD 30.20 0.1 (200)
Day 4: 1 Marge Allison W QLD 1:08.86 (400)
She also ran a leg on a silver-medal relay team.
As they say down there: “Good on you, Marge!â€
Day 3 included what I take to be a handicap 100-meter race of all the age-group champions in the 100:

A handicap race of this type (where the oldest run the shortest distance) used to be contested at USA masters nationals (with cash prizes), but it was dropped a few years back. Don’t know why.
One interesting name popped up in the W30 throws — Tatiana Sudarikova of New South Wales. A lady by this name threw the javelin for Kyrgyzstan in the Sydney Olympics.
The oldest competitor was W95 Ruth Frith, who got some good ink (especially after setting a world age-group record in the shot).
