Canadian masters nationals are set for mid-July in Toronto

Masters everything Doug Smith has a new hat: meet director of the 2010 Canadian Masters National Outdoor T&F Championships. It will be July 17-18 in Toronto, Ontario — and may include a pentathlon. (Doug has posted a poll, seeking feedback on the pent.) Here is meet information. USA masters nationals are a week later in Sacramento, so folks might double-dip. Not sure why it’s taken so long to nail down the meet venue. The Toronto Track & Field Centre is operated by the city, York University and local track organizations. We still haven’t learned the final disposition of the WMA regional championships. Nice for travel planning.

Ken “RUMOR” has it that the Regionals may be held in Mayaguez Puerto Rico in a brand stadium built this year to host the Central American Games. I hope its true because the facility is brand knew and has had only 3 meets so far. There is a 200 meters warm up track that leads right into the stadium. The scenery is also beautiful with the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. Date is suppose to be the first week in September which is good because flights are cheap. I hope we get a change to host the Regionals, I think everyone who competes would love the facility and have a great time. I’ll let you know if it gets confirmed.

    Hi Ken,

I’m pleased to announce that the Canadian Championship in Toronto WILL include an outdoor pentathlon to be held on Friday July 16th. This is good news for combined event athletes since this is the only master pentathlon in the north eastern region that I’m aware of. This seemed to be a topic of interest (and concern) for combined event athletes I competed with in Boston that didn’t want to travel to the west coast this year.

    Please share the good news.
