Deadline is Feb. 5 for masters events at Fresno indoor meet
Sierra Running Co. is graciously sponsoring five masters events — for men and women both — at the Run for the Dream meet at the Save Mart Center in Fresno. The meet is Sunday, Feb. 17, and the entry form has a deadline of Feb. 5. Mark Hays writes: “The following events will be offered in the masters division: 55m, 55m Hurdles, 600-yard dash and mile. Fresno has some pretty fast milers from back in the day. Come out and represent! High five if you wear a retro outfit!” Last year’s results are here.

10 laps to the mile? How forgiving is the track and how is the angle of the bank? Is the track fast or slow? This would be a question for those who have ran on it of course.
I’ve run on it before but only on the straight, not the curves. It is a very fast track surface but I can’t offer any experience re: the angle of the curve bank. The Save Mart Center is not a multi-purpose venue so it’s not a permanently-installed track. The last couple of times I ran it the officials were not prepared to measure off masters hurdle specs (although as soon as I pointed out what I needed they were very quick to comply) so if you hurdle, be sure to bring a tape and check your specs!
