Germans claim two world records at their indoor masters nationals

Competing at the German Indoor Masters Championships in Erfurt, triple jumper Wolfgang Knabe and long sprinter Roland Gröger set world records over the weekend. Wolfgang jumped only twice, tying the listed M55 WR of 13.35 (43-9 3/4) on his first try Saturday and then blasting it out to 13.49 (44-3 1/4). The previous recordman was Stig Bäcklund of Finland, back in 1995. On Sunday, Roland ran the 4 in 52.39, beating the listed M50 WR of 52.44 by American Michael Sullivan in 2011 — and winning his race by more than 2 seconds. (Results are here.) Here’s Roland doing sled training and (below) winning a recent 60:

Nice. I overlooked a world record at our own nationals… Janine Kortbeek W60 triple jumped 10.07. After that she had to stop with the high jump because of a severe knee problem. She has had surgery already now, hope she recovers well.
