Masters gain clout in NYC’s Metropolitan Association
W60 thrower Roz Katz in the Big Apple reports the new lineup of officers in the USATF Metropolitan Association (New York City and thereabouts). Roz, the association’s ex-prez, writes of Sunday’s election meeting: “Adam Sanford is the new president. I did not run. The vice presidents are Jean-Joseph Roman and Francis (Frank) Schiro. The new treasurer is Angela Murdock and Ed Joyce remains as secretary. . . . We spent the time discussing MAC and our visions for the future. It was a very good meeting. We got more accomplished than we normally do. Everyone is on the same page. In a few days there will be more information on our website.” Frank’s election means masters have a strong advocate at the MAC (once known as the Metropolitan Athletics Congress.) An M50 sprinter, Frank will push for better access to the Armory indoor track and other facilities.
