Pellmann quitting while he’s on top — of M90 group

Don Pellmann has a passion for competition, as I noted here recently. But even the best masters reach a point where it’s time to quit. So it is with Pellmann, who at 90 might be considered the best athlete of his age group ever. I interviewed him via email several times over the past week, and he says: “I feel it is time to ‘Hang them up!’ â€

Pellmann can’t be persuaded to go for M100 (I tried.) He at least has shown us what’s possible decades ahead. My interview lacks photos at the moment, but his sons have sent a batch, which will be posted soon. Videos of him in action also are coming.
Here’s a shot of Don with two of his grandkids after his world-record setting exploits in Colorado:

His performances are remarkable. I wish he would reconsider and continue competing. While his joints may hurt from competing in track and field, he is probably better off than becoming sedentary. There is nothing like training for competition for keeping people fit.
